Junior Cricket at Highett West Cricket Club
Highett West Cricket Club (HWCC) is proud to offer a friendly, inclusive junior cricket program for young players looking to develop their skills and enjoy the game. Whether it’s their first season or they’re growing in the sport, the Burra’s provide a welcoming environment for all.
Teams
Junior players can begin their cricket journey with us through the Woolworths Cricket Blast program for kids aged 7 and up. We currently field the following junior teams:
Master Blasters - 7 to 10 years old
Under 12s - players must be under 12 by September 1 of the upcoming season
Under 16s - players must be under 16 by September 1 of the upcoming season
With growing interest each season, we hope to expand our junior sides in the near future.
Competition
Our junior teams compete in the South East Cricket Association (SECA) junior competition. We encourage junior players who are ready to take the next step to get involved in our senior teams, with multiple grades and formats to suit different skill levels. As players develop, they may also have the opportunity to trial for Representative Cricket in SECA’s summer carnivals and development squads.
Training
Junior training is held once a week, the U12s every Thursday night from 4:30pm - 5:30pm and U16s every Tuesday night from 5:00pm - 6:30pm (we encourage the U16s to also train with the Mens Senior’s on Thursday nights).
